Roman Circus
This site is beautifully preserved and was created by the Romans during I A: D. It was the main entertainment arena during the empires domain and was the centre of all major chariot races. It had the capacity to hold 20,000 spectators.
Roman Amphitheatre
The Amphitheatre dates from II BC and had a capacity for 13,000 spectators and has been reconstructed to its original state. This open air monument is where the Gladiators and wild animals fought for their lives to the thunderess screams of the audience.
Archaeological Walk
Walk along the most well preserved areas of the walls surrounding the centre. These include the “Minerva”, ”Cabiscol” & “Arquebisbe” towers. These were constructed in the 2nd & 3rd centry B.C.
National Archaeological Museum
The oldest museum of its kind in Catalonia, housing pieces from the Romanization period. As well as being able to see the magnitude of the huge Roman walls, you can also enjoy the famous “Medusa mosaic” and marvel at the everyday objects used in the roman period.
Tarragona Cathedral
Built in a beautiful mix of romantic & baroque architecture. The Cathedral houses one of the most important collections of tapestries in Europe together with dramatic gothic paintings.
