TOUCHDOWN TOURS TO MONTSERRAT from Salou
Montserrat - A beautiful monastery with breathtaking views!
The Benedictine monastery of Montserrat nestles in one of the most amazing settings. The magical mountains stand at 1,236m and are shaped by the wind, rain and frost into mesmerising rock pillars. Like thousands before you, you will leave with a sense of tranquillity and peace. Enjoy the magnificent scenery whilst exploring the hidden caves and discovering the legends of St.Peter's Black Virgin and the Holy Grail.
Montserrat still continues to be one of Catalunya's most important shrines. It is set 725m above sea level and can be approached by cable car that swings high across the Llobregat valley. On a clear day you can see as far as the Pyrenees, Barcelona's Tibidabo and Mallorca. A visit to Montserrat would not be complete without visiting the Royal Basilica which holds the famous 12th Century Romanesque carving of Virgin Moreneta, the Black Virgin. The impressive Basilica church is home also to the stunning and haunting Boy's choir sessions which are on most days at throughout the year.
Please be aware that as we are in the mountains it is advisable to bring extra clothing as the temperature is cooler than on the coast.
TOP TIP!! Clients have made the most of a late afternoon visit to one of the 2 pioneering Cava & Wine Tours which are located conveniently on the way back from Montserrat. Many of our clients have made the most of this opportunity and have saved Euros in incorporating this offer.
